How affiliate relationships work

Affiliate marketing is a standard commercial model for independent comparison and review websites. When a reader clicks a link to a casino operator on this site and completes an action — typically registering and making a deposit — the operator pays us a referral fee. The fee comes from the operator, not from you. It does not affect the cost of signing up or the terms available to you.

This income allows us to operate as an independent editorial platform without charging readers directly. Most major comparison websites in finance, travel, and gambling operate on a similar basis.

What our affiliate relationships do not influence

We do not allow commercial relationships to determine which operators appear on this site, in what order they appear, or what editorial score they receive. Our assessment process is applied consistently across all operators we review.

If an operator we have a commercial relationship with performs poorly in our review, we publish that assessment unchanged. We have declined to feature operators where commercial arrangements were conditional on positive coverage — that is not something we participate in.

How to identify affiliate links

Links to casino operators on this site that carry tracking parameters (such as utm_source, ref, or similar) are affiliate links. These links are marked with rel="sponsored" in the page code, which is the standard HTML attribute for commercially linked content. You will usually find these links on casino comparison cards and operator listing buttons.

Informational links to regulatory bodies such as the UK Gambling Commission, GAMSTOP, GamCare, and GambleAware are not affiliate links. We receive no commercial benefit from linking to those organisations.

Our selection criteria

Operators are selected for inclusion based on editorial criteria, not commercial interest. Every operator we feature must hold a current UK Gambling Commission licence. We assess usability, payment options, game range, mobile quality, responsible gambling tooling, and terms transparency. Operators that do not meet a reasonable standard across these areas are not included.

We periodically review our operator listing and remove or update entries where circumstances have materially changed.

Regulatory basis

CrownPlay Review operates as a comparison and information platform. We are not regulated by the UK Gambling Commission as a gambling operator, nor do we hold a gambling licence. We are responsible for our editorial content and for ensuring our disclosures are clear and accurate.
